Hello, My Favorite Readers,
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, and that your 2023 is off to a wonderful start.
December was quite a month for me.
Just before my manuscript for Dreams and Illusions was due to my editor, I received a request for revisions for a magazine story, due the following day! Incredibly, I managed to make both deadlines, get my Christmas cards mailed, and my shopping and decorating done, all before my surgery date on the nineteenth. I even crocheted two afghans and a hat! A good thing, too, since surgery rendered me a one-armed zombie through the holidays.
My surgery was to reattach a ligament in my left shoulder. The surgery went well, and I am recovering nicely, but for the next few weeks, I’m reduced to typing with one hand (my right), which, being righthanded, you wouldn’t think would be a problem. You would be wrong. When you’ve been typing with two hands all your life, pecking a keyboard is incredibly annoying. Especially wearing a huge brace that conceals half the keyboard. But, as I can do little else, I’m trying to embrace this lesson in patience. Gracefully.
Thankfully, Santa was very good to me this year. Not only did he complete my collection of Miss Marple books and bring me a Murder on the Orient Express mystery Puzzle, he also brought me two new therapy babies to hasten my recovery. Meet the latest editions to our family, Agatha and Ambrose.
While I am working on my next book, Demon Slayer’s Handbook,—as long as my right hand holds out—the majority of my time is spent catching up on my reading, doing puzzles, and of course physical therapy. The good news is, my right arm and hand are going to be ripped when this brace comes off!
