Hello!
I intended on posting something earlier, but, as you’ll read later, life happens.
Publishing News
On the publishing front, I think the launch of Promise of the Day Devotional for Victorious Living and the Companion Journal went very well! Thank you to all of you who purchased a copy! The devotional was the number one Amazon Best seller for New Releases in a couple of categories for three days, so that was exciting!
Though the sales of the devotional dropped dramatically after the release, I have experienced an increase in sales of Loved So Much It Hurts, which was an unexpected but welcome surprise.
And, thank you to all who have left reviews for the devotional. I really appreciate it. I haven’t gotten as many as I was hoping for, but those who have left one will be receiving a free signed copy of the Companion Journal soon. The “life” that happens caused a slight delay, but I will get them out. If you purchased the devotional, but still haven’t left a review, please do so. It would really help out. Here is where you go to do so: Amazon Review Page.
And now for the “life”
This picture shows a gaping hole in the ceiling of our kitchen . . . That hole was put there by yours truly. And, not intentionally. Yes, folks, I fell through the ceiling. But don’t worry, there was a big double floor joist between my legs to break my fall . . . Okay, so I really shouldn’t have been helping my husband with the second floor bathroom renovation in the first place. Especially with no floor in said bathroom, but up until I started having inner ear issues, I was quite good at it, and I was quite happy to help. Unfortunately, part of a joist I was standing on broke off (it’s a hundred-year-old house), and I lost my balance. As my foot came down to catch myself, I remember thinking, this is not going to end well. And, wouldn’t you know it? I was right! And, even though the floor joist I landed on turned my entire left “bumper” into one huge hematoma, and I had multiple cuts and bruises on my legs, I am thankful that I did not fall all the way to the kitchen floor. That would have been really bad. So, I got a not-free trip to ER, a cat scan, and some lovely pain meds, and spent three weeks in bed. Though I have spent other Mother’s Days in bed, it is still not my favorite party venue. I’m happy to say that I’m getting around without crutches now, though sitting up is still a painful proposition. All’s well that ends well. So to speak.
This is probably the worst time of year to be stuck in bed. The lilacs bloomed and faded without me, but my wonderful daughter, Nurse Gracie, cut some for my room, so I got to enjoy the fragrance, and though my beautiful irises are surrounded by weeds, Nurse Gracie takes me for my physical therapy walks around the yard, so I can at least see and smell them. And, oh, the smell! Check out my gallery for more pictures.
Writing News
One thing I can do while convalescing is write! And I have been writing. I’m deep into revisions on my first mystery in the series, and halfway through the first draft of book #4, which I thought was book #3, but, as it turned out, I was wrong.
I also received an imperative nonfiction assignment in a dream. So, I am also drafting The Ugly Truth: What Your Youth Pastor Won’t Tell You About Demons, Suicide, and a Bunch of Other Stuff. This book is to teach tweens and teens how to recognize and defeat the spirits of suicide, addiction, and other destructive behaviors. This is probably the most controversial book I’ve written yet, so we’ll see how it’s received! I hope it helps some kids realize how precious their lives are.
On the contest front, winning first place in the NYCMidnight Short Story Challenge was a huge thrill, but my entry for the second round did not make the cut. I had three days to write the second story, and it had to be a drama involving a bridegroom and sightseeing. Of course that same weekend, we were traveling ten hours to a rabbit show in Montana, but I managed to get the story done in time. I’ll be sending both stories out to my ARC soon, so if you want to give me your feedback on them, let me know, and I’ll add you to the group. I broke out of my disappointment by signing up for another challenge. This one is flash fiction, to I’ll let you know how it goes. Onward and upward!
Until next time, stay away from rooms with no floors and happy writing!
